Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Night Shift

Job Description

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for residents in a skilled nursing setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and Director of Nursing. This role includes administering medications, ensuring continuity of care, and participating in resident and family teaching.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents' conditions and nursing needs, prescribing appropriate nursing actions.
• Utilize pain management techniques and educate residents and families on pain management.
• Document changes in residents' conditions and nursing care.
• Perform waived testing and interpret results following established policies.
• Administer medications adhering to the eight medication rights.
• Notify physicians of changes in residents' conditions and ensure timely follow-up.
• Provide thorough shift reports and participate in walking rounds.
• Implement resident care plans based on interdisciplinary goals.
• Supervise and support CNAs and other team members in delivering care.
• Maintain compliance with infection control procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
• Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and preferred Electronic Health Record experience.

Schedule

This is a night shift position.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
