Medical Lab Technician - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Nights, 9 PM - 7:30 AM, 7 on/7 off, with weekends and holidays required. Every other weekend is expected.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Lab Technician to support high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing specimens for testing, performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, conducting quality control, troubleshooting laboratory instrument errors, and participating in continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Conduct specialized laboratory tests and ensure quality control measures are adhered to.
• Troubleshoot any quality control errors and laboratory instrument issues.
• Recognize and evaluate computer data problems; perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
• Assist in training laboratory personnel and communicate technical information effectively.
• Maintain a safe and efficient laboratory environment while modeling standards of behavior.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred (first-timers accepted).
• Experience in Chemistry is required; experience in Hematology is highly preferred.
