Medical Lab Technician

Schedule

Night shift: 3x10-hour schedule (21:00 - 07:30) or 4x10-hour schedule (21:00 - 07:30), with rotation of 7 on and 7 off. Mandatory weekend work every other week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Medical Lab Technician supports high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Responsibilities include preparing specimens for testing, performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, troubleshooting quality control errors, maintaining laboratory instruments, and communicating technical information effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and conduct routine laboratory tests.
• Perform specialized laboratory tests and ensure quality control standards are met.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instrument problems and conduct preventative maintenance.
• Assist in training laboratory personnel on routine procedures.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain knowledge of normal and abnormal lab values.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or an equivalent certification in a relevant specialty.
• Preferred experience of at least 2 years in Hematology and/or Chemistry.
