Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) - 13-Week Contract Position

Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. Please note there is no guarantee of hours and no call required.

Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit is a 15-bed unit that handles patients in need of step-down ICU care and telemetry monitoring. The role includes providing primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, and performing fingerstick blood sugar checks. The RN will be responsible for 1:4 patient care in the Progressive Care area and 1:3 in the Step-down ICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care and Step-down ICU.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and strip reading.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests.
• Utilize Meditech for charting and Pyxis for medication distribution.
• Monitor patients continuously using cardiac monitoring equipment such as BIPAP.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year is required.
• Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry is preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
• Must possess a current and active Hawaii RN license prior to the start of the assignment.
