Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Schedule

Scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. No guarantee of hours. No on-call required.

Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit consists of a 15-bed unit, providing a combination of step-down ICU and telemetry care. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step-Down ICU. This role involves primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, and reading telemetry strips.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for patients in a progressive care setting
• Monitor patients' telemetry and respond to changes in their condition
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar assessments
• Utilize Meditech charting and manage medication through Pyxis
• Participate in continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Experience in progressive care and telemetry preferred
• Current Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications preferred

Floating Requirements

Candidate may be required to float to all acute units within the facility, which may include Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER.

Dress Code

Scrubs are required.
