Job Description

The Endo/GI Technician is responsible for applying aseptic technique principles to equipment preparation and maintenance while assisting with endoscopic procedures. The technician identifies potential compromises to the integrity of sterile and high-level disinfectant items throughout each procedure.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and identify defective or malfunctioning parts. Provide preventive maintenance for all procedure supplies and equipment.
• Perform pre-cleaning requirements as per regulatory standards, including inspection, leak testing, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting of all endoscopes.
• Follow established protocols for reprocessing endoscopes and accessories and for properly storing equipment.
• Determine the method of high-level disinfection for products based on material and/or manufacturer's instructions.
• Check and calibrate equipment according to protocols.
• Perform ambulatory technician duties as needed, which may include obtaining and documenting vital signs and transporting patients.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• High-Level Disinfection (HLD) certification is highly encouraged.
• Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment.
