Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) will provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, conducting assessments, and administering medications. The RN will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 based on acuity.
• Provide care for patients with conditions such as sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, and multi-organ failure.
• Administer IV medications, manage arterial and central lines, and perform suctioning and EKG interpretation.
• Participate in rapid response and emergency situations, including management of cardiac drips and ECMO protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active NY RN license in hand.
• Minimum of 2 years of previous charge experience in an ICU setting.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Demonstrated skills in management of patients with multi-system organ dysfunction.
