Step-Down Registered Nurse

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:30.

Job Description

The Step-Down Registered Nurse will manage the care of adult and geriatric patients with a variety of critical conditions. The nurse will work in a dynamic environment, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from complex medical procedures and those with acute and chronic respiratory issues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient vitals and neurological status.
• Provide post-operative care for patients following heart catheterizations and vascular procedures.
• Administer medications, including emergency medications and cardiac drips.
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP therapy and assist with chest tube insertion and removal.
• Perform frequent assessments and provide timely interventions for dysrhythmias.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and use of personal protective equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of recent Step-Down nursing experience required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are necessary.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation is essential.
• Proficiency in IV start and maintenance, and PICC line management.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.
