Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Full-Time Contract Position

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies nursing theory and practices to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops collaborative care plans, provides direct patient care, evaluates progress, and coordinates care throughout the patient's experience. This position requires specialized skills in medical-surgical nursing, catering to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and analysis of information.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Provide education to patients and families about self-care post-discharge.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Promote a healing environment by advocating for patient rights and fostering mutual trust within the team.
• Administer medications and perform nursing interventions per established protocols.
• Document care delivery and patient/family education comprehensively.
• Engage in ongoing self-evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State (NYS) RN Licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from AHA only.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a medical-surgical environment.

Schedule

This position requires full-time commitment, with 3x12 hour shifts (days or nights) and 2 on-call shifts within a 4-week period. Extended contracts through the holidays are required.
