Radiation Therapist

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, the Radiation Therapist delivers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed and obtains localization images according to planned treatment delivery. Responsibilities include assisting the physician or nurse in administering contrast agents, performing measurements, collecting and documenting data during the simulation procedure, and accurately inputting treatment-related data into the verify-and-record system.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment, simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices, and radiosurgery procedures according to the written prescription and treatment plan.
• Collect and document data acquired during the simulation procedure.
• Maintain safety in patient care through consistent practice of departmental procedures.
• Recognize deviations from prescribed treatment delivery and report to the Chief Therapist/Physicist.
• Assure the quality and consistency of treatment delivery through accurate documentation of treatment records.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and their families, responding effectively to patient concerns.
• Observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments and communicate this to appropriate staff members.
• Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room.
• Utilize information systems and computer applications necessary for job performance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in a JRCERT-accredited institution.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience required.
• ARRT Certificate and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Active Pennsylvania licenses: Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73.

Schedule

This position is for the Day Shift, working 8-hour shifts over 5 days per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
