Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) - Part Time

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families in the emergency setting. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress in response to various life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to identify the immediate needs of patients across all age groups.
• Utilize Triage Standards to assign priority of care based on urgency.
• Establish rapport with patients and families, addressing comfort needs and providing updates on care.
• Document major deviations from the norm and identify necessary interventions based on assessments.
• Assess psychosocial needs and report any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and make appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention strategies to safeguard public safety.
• Maintain awareness of patient conditions throughout their ER visits and communicate effectively with the care team.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Two years of experience serving as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department setting.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only).

Schedule

This is a part-time position with day/night rotations, requiring two 12-hour shifts plus two on-call shifts within a four-week period.
