Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

FT day/night variable shift with a holiday rotation of 3 shifts per week and 2 on-call shifts per 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient need, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Connect with patients and families during triage. Identify and prioritize care based on Triage Standards.
• Conduct primary and secondary assessments to identify critical needs and document deviations from norm.
• Build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
• Assess and address the psychosocial needs of patients and families, ensuring understanding of post-care instructions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department environment.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification from AHA or RQI required.
