Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with floating required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care for medical-surgical stroke stepdown patients. The unit focuses on adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, isolation, general medical-surgical needs, pneumonia, and pulmonary conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients in the stroke stepdown unit.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with a healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout hospital stay.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience.
• Active NY Registered Nurse license and all active RN licenses.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certification; NIHSS certification can be obtained prior to start.
• Up-to-date resume detailing travel experience and relevant clinical skills.
• EMR experience with EPIC preferred.
