Job Description

The Sterile Processing Supervisor provides operational and technical leadership for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This role ensures the safe and efficient reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices, directly supervising lead technicians and sterile processing technicians.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise staff across all SPD work areas, including decontamination, prep/pack, sterilization, and sterile storage.
• Coordinate daily SPD operations to meet surgical and procedural case demands.
• Oversee instrument tracking systems, documentation accuracy, and inventory control.
• Monitor tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness.
• Ensure compliance with AAMI ST79, AORN guidelines, CDC recommendations, and regulatory standards.
• Address service concerns and implement service recovery when needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of three (3) years of sterile processing experience with prior leadership experience.
• Certification in sterile processing from CRCST HSPA or CBSPD is required.
• Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices.
