Stepdown RN - Night Shift

Schedule

3x12 hour shifts, Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, with holiday rotation and every other weekend required.

Job Description

The Stepdown RN will provide essential care to patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and support than in a standard unit but less intense than in an intensive care setting. The nurse will ensure safety and comfort through effective communication and critical thinking while delivering nursing care in accordance with established protocols and standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in a stepdown unit with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and established protocols.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to formulate and implement care plans.
• Document patient care accurately using the Epic charting system.
• Float between similar units as required by facility needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of recent RN experience in a stepdown or telemetry unit.
• Current South Carolina RN license or a compact licensure valid in South Carolina.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required; NIHSS certification is preferred.
