Job Description

The ICU Float Registered Nurse will provide effective and compassionate care across various intensive care units, including Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Medical ICU, and a Med-Surg Department. The role requires the ability to work under high-stress conditions with a focus on critical care patients, maintaining a high standard of nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and best practices in ICU settings.
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, including administering medications and managing ventilated patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services for optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize advanced nursing skills such as titration of drips, interpretation of ABGs, and management of multimodal sedation protocols.
• Deliver education to patients and families regarding care plans and procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience in ICU settings.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; CCRN certification preferred.
• Experience with neuro and cardiac patient management is required.
• Proficiency in Epic charting system is mandatory.
• Must be able to float between various units as required by staffing needs.
