Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit

Schedule

12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule between day and night, including weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in the Intermediate Care Unit. This unit features 30 beds (14 private and 16 semi-private) and focuses on managing patients requiring intermediate care acuity. The nurse will be involved in diverse patient populations, including those experiencing chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and care before and after catheterization procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including medication administration and monitoring patient conditions.
• Maintain a ratio typically ranging from 1:5 to 1:6 patients per nurse.
• Work alongside charge nurses, clinical assistants, and other staff to ensure optimal patient care.
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips, with the assistance of telemetry technicians.
• Titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro, among others.
• Collaborate with the IV Team and Pharmacy, available in-house 24/7.
• Participate in a flexible scheduling arrangement, including a requirement to float as necessary to other units.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
