Job Description

The Surgical Technologist prepares the equipment, instruments, and supplies during surgery as well as protects the sterile area. Incumbents must have a clear understanding of the surgical procedure being performed in order to anticipate the needs of the performing surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during the operation.
• Assist in the organization of the surgical environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program recognized by CAAHEP or ABHES.
• Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) is required.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic medical record documentation is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience required.
