Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring adherence to the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals for each patient based on nursing admission assessments and collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation in medical records.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs, focusing on direct patient care using the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and commence patient teaching accordingly.
- Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, ensuring effective decision-making and delegation.
- Contribute to unit functionality by providing calm direction and support to staff and families.
- Maintain communication regarding service needs, supplies, and training with management and senior nursing staff.
- Assume charge responsibility as directed and ensure patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner.
- Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities effectively to meet patient needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain locations).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
