Registered Nurse - ED Holding Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 3x12-hour, from 18:45 to 07:15. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.

Job Description

The ED Holding unit is responsible for managing patients located within the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. Registered Nurses in this setting will care for adult patients with medical and surgical diagnoses, including PCU-level patients. Travelers are expected to handle Med-Surg and Telemetry cases and may need to float to ED and MedSurg areas as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in the ED Holding unit.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Administer blood products and handle renal failure care.
• Provide care for feeding tubes and manage peripheral lines.
• Utilize telemetry for patient monitoring in various levels of care.
• Engage with Rapid Response Teams as necessary.
• Perform care related to colostomy, isolation precautions, and other specific medical procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required.
• Traveler experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Preferred certifications include NIHSS and IV insulin protocols.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Must be willing to float to various medical and surgical units as needed.
