Registered Nurse - Observation Unit

Schedule

This position involves rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Job Description

The Observation Unit is dedicated to caring for adult patients who require additional observation to assess the seriousness of their condition for potential hospital admission or safe release. This fast-paced environment typically sees the turnover of 20 to 27 patients daily, with an average length of stay of around 27 hours, supported by 24/7 provider coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for a diverse adult population in both emergency observation and admitted boarding settings.
• Assess patient conditions and collaborate with the healthcare team to determine appropriate care paths.
• Maintain high-quality care standards and ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN License in New York State
• Two years of Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
