Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift - 13-week Contract

This position requires a night shift, working 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, with a possibility of changes as needed.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory care focused on adults and geriatric patients, demonstrating proficiency in critical care settings. Responsibilities include performing various respiratory procedures, managing mechanical ventilation, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapies and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform intubation and extubation procedures, as well as nasal and oral airway placements.
• Conduct tracheostomy care and pulmonary hygiene procedures.
• Manage aerosol delivery systems and oxygen therapy modalities.
• Monitor and maintain ventilators, including BiPAP and CPAP devices.
• Collect sputum specimens and carry out arterial blood gas interpretations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Rapid Response and Respiratory Services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with a strong emphasis on adult critical care.
• Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) license in hand.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS.
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms.
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system is mandatory.
