MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a 12-hour night shift position, working from 18:45 to 07:15, with a contract length of 13 weeks.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. The nurse will primarily care for stroke patients, along with other neurosurgery patients and various neuro diagnoses such as epilepsy and subdural hematomas. The unit features a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and requires robust clinical skills and floating to other MedSurg/Telemetry areas as needed.

Responsibilities

• Caring for stroke and neurosurgery patients, along with other neuro diagnoses.
• Managing medications and IVs, including starting IVs and administering blood products.
• Interpreting dysrhythmias and managing related treatment plans.
• Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary support teams.
• Floating to other units or COVID care units as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct MedSurg experience.
• Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• BCLS, NIH, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory; ACLS is preferred but not required.
• NC or Compact RN license required (pending licenses may be accepted).
• Must pass EKG testing prior to starting the assignment.
