Day Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday for 3x12.0 hours.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, managing intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed. Operates within the scope of their professional license with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain treatment purposes and procedures to patients, providing education prior to discharge.
• Administer physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Conduct chest physiotherapy and perform suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography in accordance with policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform routine pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care and perform arterial puncture as needed.
• Record pertinent treatment information and communicate effectively with medical staff.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy documentation and charging procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Current VA license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist is required.
