Job Description

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes. The RN will also serve as a resource person when needed, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and develop nursing diagnoses.
• Plan and implement nursing care in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and make necessary adjustments to care plans.
• Administer treatments and medications as prescribed.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and educate patients and families.
• Document nursing actions involved in patient care delivery.
• Supervise unit secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have completed a nursing program from an NLN approved institution.
• Preferred one year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
