Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) to provide diabetes education, consultation, and evaluation of patient and program outcomes in a leading healthcare facility. The educator will play an essential role in delivering and implementing effective teaching interventions for patients and their families, with a focus on structured and tailored educational materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver educational materials for new pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Utilize knowledge of growth and development to provide appropriate educational content based on identified needs.
• Maintain diabetes supplies and assist with their management.
• Provide backup support to other staff as necessary.
• Contribute to orientation and training of personnel and students.
• Attend meetings and participate in required ongoing professional development.
• Prepare periodic reports as requested.

Schedule

This position follows a schedule of 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
• Registered Dietitian Certification or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan.
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) designation.
• Critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
