Risk Management Specialist
Job Description
The Risk Management Specialist will monitor, develop, and implement a comprehensive Risk Management Program for the Medical Center. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and compliance of all medical operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate a comprehensive risk management program.
- Act as a resource for current knowledge and appropriate methodology for effective risk management to all departments.
- Review, coordinate, and develop department risk management policies and procedures.
- Investigate, analyze, document, and recommend actions on potentially compensable events, claims, and litigation.
- Identify risk reduction opportunities and recommend and implement risk reduction projects.
- Provide education on risk management needs through presentations and development of educational materials.
- Work cooperatively with administration to comply with state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with external organizations such as insurance representatives, adjusters, and attorneys.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field is preferred; graduation from a School of Nursing is also preferred.
- Current license as an RN in New Mexico or compact license is required.
- Claims Management and/or Risk Management certification is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN or a combination of three (3) years nursing/claims/risk management experience is required.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are necessary.
- Experience in an acute care facility is strongly preferred.
Schedule
This position operates on a schedule of 08:00-16:30.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
