Schedule
Primarily Evening shift with weekend rotation; 5 - 8 hr shifts per week.

This is a 13-week contract position.
Job Description
Under the direction of supervisors, the Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for the prompt and accurate performance of assigned work. Perform analyses on blood and other body fluids for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease while maintaining proficiency to work in all clinical departments of the laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties accurately, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
- Prepare specimens for processing by accurately identifying appropriate specimens and logging them into the department.
- Promptly process and analyze specimens to determine qualitative or quantitative results.
- Assure quality control criteria are always met before releasing any reports.
- Maintain organized work to avoid confusion and potential for error.
- Review results for accuracy and completeness before release, and repeat results that are not consistent with previous findings.
- Assist with training of technical personnel as requested by the supervisor.
- Participate in proficiency testing or quality assurance activities as instructed.
- Maintain current knowledge of laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate continuous compliance with safety, infection control, and quality assurance procedures.
- Perform specimen collection duties with verified patient identification.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No previous experience required.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent certification.
