Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, focusing on patient and employee safety while adhering to quality standards. The position emphasizes teamwork and resourcefulness in overcoming challenges, promoting a safe and effective care environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals regarding each patient's diagnosis in collaboration with the patient/family and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in weekly Initial Team Conferences, providing timely patient information and status updates.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in aligned with policy.
- Engage in patient rehabilitation programming and prioritize education for patients and families concerning identified health care needs.
- Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and start patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity of care and safety.
- Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing staff using effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital and nursing policies.
- Contribute positively to the unit’s function by providing direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
- Maintain communication regarding service needs such as supplies, equipment, and training.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested following orientation.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (for specific facilities).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
- ICU experience preferred.
Schedule
This position operates on a 3x12.0 day shift schedule.
