Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient through collaboration with patients/families and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for Initial Team Conferences and Re-evaluation Team Conferences weekly.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner according to policy.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program on an assigned unit, utilizing the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate pertinent changes in patient status to support continuity of care and patient safety.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning by ensuring a calm environment and clear communication.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs such as supplies and equipment.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested post-orientation.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
- ICU experience required.
Schedule
This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts.
