Registered Nurse - Night Shift
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a night shift from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, working 4 days a week for 10 hours each shift. Weekend availability is required for 1-2 call nights per week and potentially 1-2 24-hour weekend call shifts.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The RN demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Re-assess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
- Develop and implement a measurable individualized plan of care for patients within the timeframe established by Nursing Standards of Care.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modify the plan of care based on evaluations.
- Participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- BLS Certification from AHA required.
- ACLS Certification from AHA required.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served.
- All newly hired nurses with two or less years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired in at a CNI status, with potential for a higher clinical ladder level based on relevant experience, national nursing certification, or additional nursing education (B.S.N. or MSN).
