Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is consistently followed. This position involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, with a strong focus on patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely information regarding patient status for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation of all assessments and interventions.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program on an assigned unit and focus on patient education and care through the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate pertinent information for continuity of care and seek consultation for complex clinical decision-making.
- Train and supervise ancillary nursing personnel while effectively organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning through calm direction and support to staff, patients, and families.
- Maintain communication regarding service needs and provide care in a cost-effective manner.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested and actively pursue professional growth and development.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience (post-graduate).
- Experience in Stepdown, ICU, or LTAC is required.
